Check-in is at 3:00 PM and checkout is at 10:00 AM. If you need a little flexibility on arrival, let us know and we'll do what we can. Our local team is nearby throughout your stay if anything comes up.

The home is reached by a moderately steep gravel driveway, and SUVs, trucks, and AWD vehicles are recommended. Low-clearance cars may find access challenging, particularly in wet weather. There's free parking on the property for 4 vehicles.

Cell service can be limited in the mountains, but Starlink high-speed WiFi covers the home and supports WiFi calling and video conferencing. A whole-house backup generator helps ensure a comfortable stay even during mountain weather or power outages.

While we love animals, Braeburn Cottage is a pet-free home, and we are unable to accommodate pets of any kind.

Braeburn Cottage borders the Nantahala National Forest. Black bears, deer, and wild turkey pass through from time to time, and seeing them is one of the quiet pleasures of staying this close to the woods. A bear-safe bin is provided for trash, and we ask that food, coolers, and grill supplies stay indoors rather than on the porch. Give any visitors plenty of room and enjoy watching from a comfortable distance. They'll move along on their own.

Downtown Highlands is a short drive, with dining, shopping, and galleries. Dry Falls and Bridal Veil Falls are close enough for a morning out, and the Nantahala National Forest and the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau offer hiking in every direction. We're happy to point you toward our favorites.
